What this series makes easier

How long a part lasts is usually decided by where it sits, not by what it is made of. A cover that gives no trouble indoors can lose its colour and its toughness in direct sun. This series is written for that job: parts that stay outdoors, sit in the sun, or work in a warm environment. The main material in the series also suits high-speed printing, so this is the right place when you need to finish a print quickly.

Which material family to look at

ASA HS — the main route

The brand’s own product text describes this family as combining outdoor resistance and UV performance with high-speed printing compatibility. Across the four criteria in the material selector its mechanical strength sits at the top of the scale, while ease of printing stays mid-scale. It is not a good first spool.

ASA belongs to the same class as ABS: warping and layer separation are real risks, and an enclosed printer gives steadier results. That is not a brand claim but the known behaviour of this class — factor in your printer before you buy the spool.

PEBA 90A — performance on the flexible side

If the part has to flex and give the impact back, the route leads here; the brand’s text puts flexibility, strength and high energy return side by side. As with flexible filaments generally, a Direct Drive extruder runs more reliably and the spool needs protection from moisture. The surface range is narrow — what you are after here is behaviour, not looks.

When to look at another series

  • The part stays indoors and your real concern is mechanical load and heat. Look at ABS+ and the Engineering series. All four criteria are identical for ASA HS and ABS+; the difference is not in the data but in the job: one part stays outside, the other indoors.
  • You need a functional part without giving up ease of printing. PETG+ and the Functional series are the more balanced start.
  • Flexing is the whole point and the outdoors is secondary. TPU 95A is the mainstream option in the flexible class; move to the Flexible series.
  • The way the part looks is the job. That is what Standard and Specialty are for.

Practical notes

  • Temperature. The brand has not published nozzle and bed values for ASA HS or PEBA 90A; for these two, go by the spool’s label and a test print. The values shown on this site cover only the types the brand states explicitly — ABS+, for example, at 220–260 °C nozzle and 95–110 °C bed.
  • Storage. Technical filaments pick up moisture easily. Keep the spool sealed with desiccant, and dry one that has been sitting open before you print it.
  • Surface. Finish is secondary here. If you want silk gloss or a matte texture, look at the effect types on the Specialty side.
  • Diameter. Filament diameter is 1.75 mm across the products in the collection.
